Hi All,

We got lots of bits with our GTT. Can anyone explain what they're for? Here's the first lot:

1: Bracket:

Any help in identifying these parts would be gratefully received!

3 is a cover for the back of the aei unit.

4 looks like the cover for where the steering column fits onto the steering rack.

Don't know about the other two though

2. AEI back part / fits to No. 3 with the AEI housed inside ( the part is upside down for the picture) if that makes sense.
4. is a steering coloumn shroud / fits around steering coloumn on top of steering rack
(housing the steering universal joint). Hope that helps :)

Brilliant, all! Thanks for your help in identifying these. Now to go back to the car and see if it's got them fitted. If not, how they fit or whether they're required.

Looking at no. 1 - the exhaust downpipe clamp. Presumably this only works with a standard exhaust or one with a bracket on it? If not, does it attach to the clamp just under the turbo? I can't see how it could fit to our non-standard exhaust.

Seems strange that Renault would over-engineer things and add covers that weren't absolutely necessary!

Having said that this is the first GTT we've owned and there is a lot more to it than the Gordini Turbo. Comes with the evolution and development of the cars, I suppose.

Down pipe bracket is very much needed, if you don't fit it or fail to secure the exhaust down pipe you will end up with a cracked exhaust manifold. Why does'nt your bracket fit around the exhaust (exhaust to large) I would have thought that it would have to be atleast 3in dia not fit that bracket. The backet is secured to the block just above the sump seal - single hole first. Good luck

Thanks both. I see from the diagram how it goes. Should be ok. I'll check it out!

OK. On the pic, what's part 13? It looks like some kind of support for the starter heat shield.

I'm not sure if we've got one of these...

We also seem to be missing the downpipe stabilising support. Is this necessary?

Update - I can see that our car has the bracket for the exhaust (no.1) fitted. It doesn't have the long stay. Is this really required? We don't have one in our pile of bits...

I've got the car up & running again after it broke down last week. Replaced the starter and fitted a new starter heat shield (there wasn't one).
