Hi all, I've got a creaking noise coming from the back of my Raider & it's doing my nut in!!!

I'm going to crawl all over the back of the car this weekend to try & find it but was wondering if any of you guys had some top tips of what to check first??

I can't seem to recreate the noise by rocking/shaking the car whilst stationary, it only seems to appear when I'm driving, and it seems to come from the near side. I've just thought that the handbrake needs adjustment & maybe the pads are rattling?

Any other suggestions guys?

Am I right in thinking that their are no replaceable bushes at the rear???

sit in the boot and bounce up and down.

that should recreate it.

there are bushed in the rear axles that you can replace, but they are expensive and hard to replace apparently.

although my money is on rear dampers.

bushes maybe,,,, you can undo the shocks and bounce just to rule them out... even a grabbing rear pad can make a weird noise if its a bit rusty on the disc,,,,
if the rear bush wears you can usually see where its come away, gone soft or just split...

Jack the back end up a long way then let it down resonable quickly, I'll bet it creaks then, mine does.

So far I've only found one thing wrong with mine, the rear dampers are on the way out after only 4 years, thanks a bunch AVO :(

So......... I had a good poke round yesterday & found the problem to be the shocks as Sparkie suggested! :niceone:

When I disconnected both shocks & bounced the car up & down the squeak/creak disappeared, however as soon as I reconnected it the noise came back?

I tried torquing up the bolts to death & also loose & it just continued to creak so the problem seems to be the dampers themselves :crap: Bit surprised about that though as they're brand new OE ones from Renault I bought about 18 months ago when I re-built the rear suspension.

Looks like i'm going to have to get some MORE new dampers! :(

I would ask for a discount especially if you can find your receipt from only 18months ago.

SPOT ON, Mr Sparks! :niceone:

I bought a pair of new BOGE dampers off the 'bay and fitted them today & it's made a Night & Day difference!!

The whole squeaking/creaking has gone!

Looks like the OE dampers were :crap:

Thank for all your suggestions guys!! :agree:
