First post!

Hi,
I've just joined the RTOC as I'm in the search of a 5 GT Turbo.
It all started many years ago when I was 16 and I wanted a 5 Turbo (to the point where I was obsessed) however even then (in '96) it was hard to find a good example, plus the insurance went through the roof.
I ended up buying an XR3i which was full turbo spec if not better. The only problem being that it was yellow! So i did a full strip down to a bare shell, and had the whole car resprayed in radiant red. I had a good few years in the car, but unfortunately it got crashed, broken in to and sort of abandoned then sold for spares a few years back.

I then had a few sensible cars, well not really sensible but safer :D

I know run a Golf 1.8t and a BMW 330i

I have still always wanted a 5 and recently saw one in a magazine which sparked something in me, and I decided that I should finally own one.

So I'm on the lookout for a restoration project. Not sure whether to get a non-runner, or something that needs work, or what but I'm on the look out for something.
My plan is to restore it to sort of OE spec but nothing over the top.

Thanks for reading and hope to speak to some of you soon.

Darryl.

Thanks mate!

I know that full cars go for around the £1k-£1.5k mark on ebay, but I'm looking for something like a non-runner or abandoned project.
I don't see the point in me spending that sort of money when I'm only going to tear it apart and restore it, but I'm worried about getting a car and not being sure what parts I'm missing, so I'm torn at the moment as to what to do.

Either way I'm sure its all going to be good fun :crap:
