Digital clock help required

Stupid question here... I've just put an O.E digital clock back in my 5, i can see the numbers and set the time but the numbers aren't illuminated and can barely be seen. the bulb in the back of the clock is blown but i thought the clock would glow slightly without the bulb? or is this on all the time when the ignition is on?

I did think the removeable bulb would illuminate when the headlights are turned on and you would need to put the live and negative to the bulb as well as the 4 prong connector to power the clock? :scratch:

The bulb comes on with the ignition to illuminate the clock, replace the bulb and it will be fine :)

the bulb is on all the time, back when they were designed LCD technology was pretty new and you had the choice of backlit or reflective displays, reflective you could only see in daylight and backlit was barely visible in any conditions unless the backlight was on
