Looking for some advice….

I’ve removed the (damaged) bonded front screen from my 5 GTt. Did it my self, using the correct tools, wanted time to check & repair any hidden rust, fortunately there’s very little corrosion.

I’m intending to have a profession fitter install the new one….however how much of the bonding adhesive do I need to remove now the screens out?

I’ve scraped all the old black bonding mastic/adhesive flush with the aperture as far as possible leaving a flat clean surface.

There’s still some traces left, do I need to remove all 100% of it? If so is there a solvent which would do the trick, tried petrol and thinners without much success…it tough stuff.

Thanks

I removed all the sealant but you don't have to. If you follow the manufacturer instuctions it says
leave a 1mm smooth layer of the old stuff and then clag the new stuff on that.

have a look at

important thing is , if you have scratched that paint etc get some fresh paint on it.. r5s are known for rusty windscreen panels, dont help it as you wont get a fresh panel in a few years to come.. prevention is the key.
