I was refitting my timing cover yesterday and I put a slightly longer bolt in next to the water drain bolt and managed to pierce a water jacket. If I remove the bolt water gushes out. Now I have sealed the hole with silicone and a bolt but the question is are the water jackets quite thin in that area or are my jackets pretty much rusting away?

probably a bit of both....you'd want to keep an eye on it though just incase you've started a crack!

i have put 20psi into the water system today and i have no leaks so fingers crossed i have got away with it. the wall must have been thin as i dont recall going crazy when tightening it.

I have had this problem too in the past, think its just thing bit of the block there. I sealed mine up and didn't have too much of a problem but as Michael says hopefully its not developed into a crack, sure you'll be ok though. ;)
