ive just swopped a few of my water hoses for silicone jobbies, and i found this in the main water hose that goes from the pump to the rad.
any ideas what the hell it does?! i think it was before or after the thermostat, looked slightly out of place!

its too stop the pipe getting sucked flat and stopping flow under high RPM's. ;)

I'm guessing it will have to be downstream (in the hose) of the stat otherwise it would be in the waterpump!

The spring fits in short hose that goes from water pump to lower connection on the rad.

Have it in both, stops the bottom one from crushing on the bend and the top hose from compressing down under pressure.

Never seen it in the top hose before mate? Neither my tungy or White Gtt had it in there, both still had the factory clips on.

Unless for some reason they only done it on some cars, looking at all the engine bays when trying to sources bits for the raider keep finding odd bits between cars, depends on what items they had to hand maybe.

its a phase 1. not vital, vital then! ill leave it out for the time being, not draining all the coolant again just for that. cheers.
