I had my gearbox rebuilt just under 1 year ago and have covered 700 miles, total spend rebuilding it was about £300 new bearings and sincros was i think what he said.

Anyway being a noob i forgot the gearbox oil and ran it for 2 days, only about 20 miles. I then put in the oil and have done the car best part of 700 miles taking it pretty easy because the bottom end has also been rebuilt.

3 weeks ago the gearbox packed in, so had it back to my guy, he has had a look and said the housing has actually worn from the inside, bearings are ok but mentioned a pin that has come loose.

I have no idea what he is talking about, he said im running to much power, Christ its only running 10psi so probably 160bhp, what going to happen when i run more boost? :scared:

Can someone explain what has happen in lamens terms and is he telling me porkys or is it just from me not running oil in for 2 days?

My mate who help me with the build the car seems to think no oil would have damaged bearing not the housing.

Anyway let me know what you all think.

Oh and i need a m59 gearbox or housing :D

Running it with no oil for 20miles wouldn't of done it any good mate, i say this could be one of the reasons is gone.

As for too much power, if your running about 160bhp then the M59 box should cope with that easily so wouldn't worry about pushing it too hard

The m59 came with the b18 engine i believe the jc5 goes onto the b18 to, so either would fit.
