Hi all, just found out from the engine services that my engine is completely screwed to say the least and have quoted me near 900 quid to fix. instead of just putting another C1J in im starting to gather info on 2 engine conversions;

The more conventional 172 conversion and a 1.5dci (k9k) conversion

There is quite a bit of info for the 172 conversion but haven't been able to find anything on putting a diesel in.

Basically i was wondering if it would go straight in and tuned what kind of power/torque would i be looking at from a 1.5dci.

Any info regarding either conversion would be greatly appreciated :D

thought about it, but you would need the wiring loom and ecus too.
dont they run a CAN system and the immobiliser coded into the key/ign barrel?

do they even make a stand alone aftermarket diesel ecu?

gtdci is something i want to do!

lots of work but my clio dci isn't that slow, and weighs 1500kg! dci80 or even dci100 engine in an 850kg shell could be fun :agree:

you'll need alot to get it to run, but all you need is a complete donor car, eg. a write off.

Eh? Your clio weighs 1500KG!? More like 1000KG unless you carry 500KG worth of lead everywhere you go? :laugh:

To be fair its somthing i think about, A dci r5 would make a nice driving car, not half as rapid as a 1.4 pushrod with a 1bar@manifold.

Thats why maybe a golf engine would be more worth the effort, having a lot more power for a start with. Im geussing that would be adding weight with not much extra usable power.

I have a Clio dci 80... And I wouldn't recommend it in th 5, more hastle than it's worth and slower than a c1j..

Surely you can't like the 5 shell that much ?? :p

That will be gross weight - the maximum allowed weight of a vehicle when fully loaded.

A more realistic weight is kerb weight - as it says on the tin, the weight of the car by the kerbside.. so that's all fluids, tank of fuel, etc. Kerb weight of a clio is ~1000kg
