View Full Version : Running 285 cam on standard pulley?
I have a vernier pulley but i had sparkie come down and have a look and couldnt seem to get it to work.. Im not sure why:confused: but put the standard pulley on and my car runs just needs carb messing with..
Just wondered will the standard pulley affect anything? Power gains etc?
It all depends how far the timing is out with the standard pulley, from what i read the piper grinds can be quite far out and require a vernier to dial it in.
Check it with a timing wheel and dti to see what its dialled in at :)
I think the cam timing will be for out. tried it and I think it cam out at 125 degree atdc with the standard pulley But can correct it with the vernier ran mine at 113 degree atdc and got it to idle nice n smooth with 14:1 afr
i know he tried doing that with the timing disc and dti but couldnt get it right for some reason  so i dont know what to do..
There is is file in the articles section which I found helpful I struggled at first to dial it in I put the standard pulley and line the marks up on the comp stroke in cylinder no 1 then took it off for the adjustable and then dial it in with the dial gauge on inlet of cylinder no4 using the timing disc
