The Raider may still well be with the guy I sold it to in Gloucester, who claimed to be a mate with Adey but actually wasn't:D

I've got no regrets, car wise, but I may make a big one soon...

You thinking of changing the Jap motor?

Oh, when is he not?!

"Oooooh I want one of those Dawn....no I want that, it's much more awesome...no wait, it'd be too slow, I'll get that instead. I could sell the S15 and have change...oh no I wouldn't as I'd tune it anyway....still be too slow, oh I know - I could have both!".

It's allllllllllllllll I hear  A wallet, disposable income and an Adam with an indecisive and impulsive nature is a very dangerous thing indeed.

Well, it was hardly a ****ter when I sold it. I just took off all the good bits bar the engine. If you really want to get in contact with him I have his email address still.

The S15 is an incredible car, all I do is spend money on it. You'll love the private plate I just bought for it, S15 FTW... But I can't help myself looking at RX-7's. They're bloody expensive to tune and maintain though. Petrol is the other issue, I run my S15 on Optimax and I'm getting a good 30mpg+ on the motorway with it as it is, a rotary turbo car would not do that!! I don't know what to do at the moment:D

D4WNO
23-05-2011, 23:03
Lol that's another thing, "I hate private plates, only cocks have them". Oh no wait....I've just seen S15 FTW for sale, I want it..**time passes**..okay Dawn, I bought it"

Drove an R26R a couple of weeks ago. Very impressive I've never been in a car that cornered so flat and felt so planted. If I wasn't so committed with my Trophy I'd have one of those on the drive :D

However you can pick a good trophy up for a third of the price, you could probably buy a Trophy use it in the manner it was designed for then sell it after a year and I doubt you'll lose much money on it. Obviously you could go crazy and turbocharge it, I think a basic low pressure set up using something like a gt28rs would be enough to put these pesky supercharged clios back in there boxes :cooter:

Hoolio
24-05-2011, 09:30
An engineer I was speaking to was very dismissive of most of the odd the shelf supercharge units for the clio, I suppose only time will tell.

Mart are you still sniffing around Trophy's? :-) the .R is probably the only car that would displace the T off the drive that I could afford.

Adam, cheeky number plate, I love it :D But ya right, personal plates are for cocks ;) As for buying back my old Raider, hmmm, PM me the guy's email address if you don't mind please mate.

Dawn, Bekki doesn't need (any more) help in the 'whinging about cars' stakes! :crap: You'd be doing me more of a favour by talking her round the idea of me getting another GTT/Trophy/R26 wouldn't be such a bad idea after all ;) Btw, I'll PM you the Mallory hotel details when I get home tonight  :)

Adey, d'you know what condition the Raider's now in?

J/Steve, some of those decisions were kiboshed by others :( If it were down to me, I'd have never sold Whitey in the first place.

Jimmy, don't do anything too hasty regarding those Hungarian papers ;) It fell through last time due to a health scare with my dad, but all is good now. Just why do you have to live so far away!? :D

Speedy, I'd trade the Evo in tomorrow for a 26r, except it's still a touch out of financial reach, but then, in reality, is the R really worth £5/6/7k+ more than a 'normal' R26, which, in itself, is still a good all-round motor.

Julian, aii mate, I still want to tick the Trophy box on the 'cars to own/drive in life' list, but again, akin to the 26r, are they really worth double/triple the price of a 1*2?

Phil, cheers dude, but as above, it would mean selling the Evo, and I'm still not sure if a Trophy is really worth the extra outlay compared to a 1*2. I've got a Golf tdi as a workhorse motor, so the Clio would be more aimed at trackdays, Sunday drives, etc, but if that's the case, given the usage, I'm probably better off playing the better the devil you know card & keeping the Evo.

Christ, fair cop guv'nor, I can now see why Bekki does get the ass with me when it comes to cars :wasntme:

Mart
26-05-2011, 22:15
Alex, it's v tempting. If I were going to buy another one, it would have to be Whitey from Jimmy...assuming he'd still sell it? :)

Goobie, long time no speaks & all that :agree: Are you gracing us with your presence at ND?

Adey, there's more to the Trophy than just the Sachs dampers, but then saying that, there is a lot to be said for running a good suspension setup - The Intrax gear I fitted onto the Evo made a night & day difference on track.

Been having a good think these past couple of days, and I'm down to a choice of 3 :dearme: :D Keep the Evo, or sell it & buy a Trophy, or knock the trackdays on the head & buy Whitey back (again, if the option is there to do that) and enjoy it for what it is.

The option is still there for you. (and only for you, as normally I'm not willing to sell)
If you have your decision I can probably (80%) drive her back to Luton with a temporary licens plate what my friend recently bought. We can discuss it in PM. ;)

This is what I'm thinking mate, although it would be nice to get hold of Whitey again first.

Problem is, is selling the Evo...

g10far
27-05-2011, 09:49

From experience I would say that the R26R is a totally different car to the R26. Buying an R26 and stripping it out wouldnt be the same.

If you like your trackdays then I couldnt recommend the R enough, but as you say money is the issue. The other alternative is buy one that is not mint for cheap, although they have dropped in price. I recently sold my R26 for £8500 with 24k on the clock.

Mart
27-05-2011, 10:17
Don't get me wrong, the R does tick all the boxes, but it's a lot of money for what is mainly a track motor, and with other things going on in my life at the mo (money wise), expensive track toys & trackdays in general have taken a back seat.

If I bought a 'normal' R26 I'd always feel as if I was driving something less special, in the same way I'd feel driving an M3 compared to a CSL, or buying a 1*2 compared to the Trophy.

The more I look into them, the more I'm starting to feel the Clio Trophy vibe...

Did you get Both cars sprayed or were they both mainly OE paint ?

Mart
27-05-2011, 12:23
The Raider was sprayed - It was a £500 motor needing some TLC when I bought it.

As far as I know, Whitey was mainly o.e paintwork, bar a replacement bonnet new from Renault, and then having to get the rear bumper repainted when some dozy bint bumped into it.
