Gents help please....Can the nuts on C1J conrods be reused...??

Brain gone sponge...They a fixed bolt design or is the bolt removable??

A **** question i know but cant remember..been a while since i built one up,,:rolleyes:

i would hold off on buying bolts until more people have posted with there opinions.

Just to add my engine is an 1989 rebuilt in 2005 using old bolts runs reasonably high boost not had any problems.May be you could contact yourlocal renault dealer and ask them.

At the end of the day its cheap insurance repacing them isn't it? It's also basic engineering/science principles.

Have a read up on torque and yield. In basic, when you torque the bolt up you use up its 'elastic' range, at the very least a cetain % of its max tolerance. Re-using the bolt will require a re-torque, using a wrench thats most likely not calibrated and quite possible to go beyond its limit. Add to that fatigue due to age, heat, and chemicals, and you have a bolt thats structurally 'past it'

I'm sure many have re-used and had no problems, but i guess thats the risk you take.:scared:

Where can i get what i need???

Mate i'm no specialist and generally just ignored anyway! If a specialist has suggested you can re-use the nut and bolt i would question him/her on what type of material they are made from and make your own judgement from there.:crap:

The last batch i got were from Renault about 3 years ago. I suggest you stand firm with the nob head behind the parts desk and ask him to do his job!:mad:

Specialist jus reuses the bolts that they remove when reconditioning blocks..

An as 4 the parts "BOY" dont panic i shall return to him..:agree:
