Ok so ages ago i had this problem when if i really boot it, it flies through 3rd gear but on boost in 4th it just dies.. think i learnt to respect the car and hardly ever really plant my foot. I did earlier though and same old same old... picks up great in 3rd and as soon as i hit boost in 4th it stops accelerating. If i let off the DV still goes off as if its been on full boost? Any ideas?

Detonation, or your emptying the float chamber.

I assume you push hard through 2nd, 3rd, then you hit 4th, the boost comes in and then it feels like a miss fire? > If so you need a 2mm needle valve, a wide band ARF guage, and a set of Det cans to set up the carb and ignition timing... I would avoid doing it until you sort the problem... There are some very good threads on setting up your fuelling on this site.

I'm not sure he's making enough power to empty the chamber, maybe fuel pump, blocked fuel filter, or pickup?

I agree though, don't boot it until you fix it - unless you fancy being a statistic.

Yeah Ali, it is like that :( Markey mark has always set up my car and used an AFR gauge to make sure it ran 18 psi safely. Makes me think its not an easy to spot problem as hes never found a problem with it :(

We'll go through it again mate thats not a problem, as you did say you want to increase boost little it'll be going back on AFR guage so will see what it doing. Trouble is your car always seems to behave when its round mine!;)

So far your carb does have the 2mm needle valve so can't imagining it emptying carb at 18psi on T2/T25, also if it doing it soon as you plant foot makes me wonder if possibly flooding itself as it comes on boost, poss 1st stage issue.

Either way we'll sort it mate

Mine was flooding with the same problem, I upped the boost slightly and its a lot better, only happens now and again now so still something to look into for me. I've got the more pressing issues of trying to sort my shell or re-shelling and my 1 day old daughter atm. :)
