Yes otherwise, when on boost, it will push on the servo diaphram rather than pull. I don't know if it would damage it, but I suspect it would.

I've never fitted one to mine and have ran upto 24psi without issue. So unless your going beyond that I wouldnt worry :)

you should have two fitted .. one in the servo to hold any vacum and one in the manifold to stop any boost going back to the servo
