Right the time has come to make another list of bits but this time its for the engine.

Firstly I dont have endless pockets as i only have medium length arms but want champagne for lager money!!

What spec engine would you go for?
It will be a weekend toy car, I would like to do the odd track day and just general fast road use definately no tesco runs!

I previously had a lowered compression c1j balanced with dished tarabussi pistons and liners, The kent 270 cam full t25 turbo charge cooled running approx 18psi

Now it went well but didnt have the poke like my brothers old car .

his just kept pulling like you were going to prolapse he had a full forged setup with piper 285 t3/t25 charge cooled running 18-20psi

i think a bit of it had to do with the fuelling as mine was only slightly played with and his was setup by the previous owner (Dean from Northampton old member from back in the day 2001s)

I am thinking of spec now so that i dont just make a wrong turn and spend on some poo i dont need!

What is the general say from this wonderfull club?

The infamous 200bhp would be nice but im using it as only a guide.

Thanks for you time now back to x hamster lol:cooter::o

All you need is a decent standard rebuilt lump with piper 285,vernier & valvesprings.

Bang a t28 with a .49 rear, 22lb boost with a well jetted carb will see you half decent and reliable power (200+) without too much lag. No need to go forged unless your planning on mega boost or gas.

Obviously you will need the usual ancillaries i.e fmic, exhaust, clutch etc...

That was kind of my thought i suppose as long as it is measured well and built well we should be at a good groung point!

Ok so where should I be sourcing these parts as I know there are so many resellers out there trying to make a few bucks on everyone!!

Cam and springs - Piper cams

Pistons?

Liners?

Bearings (what brands)

Bolts ( what Brands)

Any think i should be aware of that i should make sure of?

TNT has a standard internal c1j, funny cam, large T25 Turbo, FMIC well jetted carb and 21psi.

Good for proven 220bhp

Very simple and mega value £££.

Andy very very quick.

Sounds like you're on the right track with the suggestions so far :agree: If you're going to use the car on track I wouldn't run 20+ lb of boost mind!

right Its been a little while but i have now got my engine bits back from the engineering shop so everything has now been tested and balanced so all i need to do is put it all together. The only thing that I am yet to buy is the Cam, Springs and venier. Where can i get one that isn't a re-ground one for a good price i have looked at the piper dealers and they are miles away and dont specialise in the renaults really any ideas?

The actual car has been stripped to do all the body repairs so that will take me a while as there are a lot of bits to make it perfect. So there is no rush! I know that it wont be this year that i will be presenting itself to any shows or rr days but that ok as i want it to be a bit special rather than rushed.

Thanks

You can buy a new cam from blank via Piper direct and they'll mail it out. :)

i enquired about a cam and piper got back to me stating -

the 285 camshaft is £199 +VAT, this is for a blank camshaft
.
they also stated they would do free delivery for forum members.

i cant decide weather to go for the piper285 or the kent rt200.

i hear catcams are very good but im not clued up on which one of there cams would suit me best.
