Just had a set of genuine clio williams 15x7j speedline alloys blasted/powdercoated anthracite at romax uk so i can take the turbines off for winter.

Picked them up cheap'ish, Half polished/corroded alloy, paint flaking, super bald/slashed tyres, all were unkerbed/straight though.

Quite pleased with them. Wasn't 100% whether the shape of the alloys would suit the van but imo they look good. Nice & low maintenance compared to polishing the outer lip on the turbines every week to stop corrosion.

Fitted 195/45/15 toyo proxes 4rf, cheap enough for full set new off ebay. Seem pretty good now there scrubbed in a bit :) Only need a new set of centre caps now, will have to wait considering the price £16 ish each:eek:

id love them willys in that colour with a polishd lip:cool:

brigsy, wouldnt laquering the polished rim on your turbines stop them from corroding.?

No idea if that would stop it Raj. When i got the turbines done i suggested laquering it & the bloke that done the wheels warned me away from it, He reckoned that the alloy corrodes under the laquer after a few months, where you can polish the alloy up when its bare.

To be fair ive had the turbines done for nearly 4 yr, they have done well.

did a diy paint job on my williams wheels.. the lad before painted them with a roller and 500 layers of matt battleship grey paint:crap: a few hours with the nitromors and a wire drill and they were bare.. mine are uncurbed too, but the surface is all pitted making painting a nightmare with rattler can. what were yours like?

im gonna leave them for now and layer them up next time to smooth off the ruffness:)

they are sexy in that colour, i would have them polished but the pittedness puts me off..

i quite fancy my willie wheels in matt black with a red lip:)

trouble is i have wanted that color/style for almost a year! i saw a classic car with the same color scheme and thought "that would work" trouble is i see loads of wheels now in that style i want something that is subtile but also unique.

im also stuck on what to do with my deep 13x8 alleycat specials!!
the actual dish/rims has lost its shine and looks kind of oxidized. im thinking i may painting the dish orange to match my engine bay and have the centre of the wheels black or white.
orange dish/black centre
orange dish/white centre
white dish/orange centre

i cant decide. failing that,if i have the time ill repolish the rims and paint the centres orange:)

got a brand new set of rsi speedline centre caps here , they are flat faced
compared to williams caps . if you are interested measure me the outer
bore of the williams wheel and i will check against these .
can let you have them cheap if all is good ;)

They might do the job Schakal, any chance you can take some pics? they need to be 60mm diameter & the clips need to be shallow to fit:)

The face on the rims were really pitted Dave, i think they must use some kind of high build primer to cover the imperfections as they done a good job.

dont think the hole for the center caps would be 60mm mate ,
you really want to measure them .
rsi caps are 52mm and the fitment is pretty simple , you just bend the
metal prongs and push in , they hold the cap in place .

Ive already had the vernier calipers on the hole mate, its 60mm. I dont just guess the measurements u know ;) Its almost/same size as the centre bore of the wheel.

Brigsy man, how are those refurb'd alloys holding up mate? Are they still as good?

The alloys on the heave ho are now fecked, what with the Winter road salt, and worse, brake dust, of which has seemingly worked its way into the paint :( They now look off-white/grey compared to the nice, shiny white they once were :crap:

Tempted to give that company a call that you used, hence the questions.

Do they offer a powder-coating service?

Brigsy
21-02-2009, 16:21
Still look as good as the day they were done, they have been out in all elements too since refurb. To be fair i haven't really washed them much, the colour doesn't show the brake dust;)

Ive had quite a few sets done over the last few years & they always seem to hold out well aslong as the powdercoat doesn't get chipped/damaged. My turbines still look mint considering they were done 4 yr ago!

Romax do blasting/powdercoating & refit tyres/balance in house. Give them a ring for a price mate, mon-fri only mind.
