Am geting a shoping list going for the 5, and just wondering if im missing anything vital or worth geting, and if im buying anything thats not worth it. Am looking for fast road spec and want to hit high 13's at pod. So far looking like this...

t25
universal front mount (have got pace standard replacement at the mo)
uprated fuel pump (probably from cgb)
uprated volvo clutch

??? about these
lightened and balanced flywheel, is it worth it?
Should i be looking at a different cam?

Am also looking at
advancing the timing, how much by?
matching the manifolds, how hard is this to do?
smoothing the airflow into the carb?

Also iv got no idea what headgasket my car has, weather the heads been skimmed, or has been replaced before. It runs well at normal gt running temp, and in the last 2000miles has not used any water. Is it worth fitting a uprated headgasket while im doing all the other work?

cheers for any advice

any thing with putting the engine under more pressure you should uprate the gasket and head bolts also make sure fuelling is right mate no use adding all thisgear and running lean

just do the above, turn the boost up and sort the carb out.
leave the cam and the headgasket alone for the time being.

i'd say forget the head gasket. If it ain't broke etc.

Forget the flywheel too.

Cam's not a bad plan but i'd first just do what your doing with the turbo and fmic. Whack the boost up and run some advance (making sure the fuellings sorted).

I'd say if you are going full T25 you need a cam IMO so you can rev it, my T25 although very good ( did what i wanted it to do, but i never ran it less than 1.5 bar manifold, 1.7 on the strip), didn't hit full boost till 4k, so on a standard cam you are looking at another 1500rpms max really.. 285 will go to 7k no probs ;)
Carb fueling would be on the top of the list as well :)

You would have run a 13.5 if you'd used R5 TL plugs ;)

Id leave cam and gasket for now, GTs can run in 12s at pod on stock cams to bare in mind...:)

Id go with sparks list and spend more time on step up and charge temps then anything else, gaskets only fail for one reason mainly..

PS.. ive got a Brand new uprated fuel pump i was going to stick on classifieds..;)

also stripping the car will help with the power to weight ratio and of course the best part is its free;)
