Not quite sure of the spec of the booster, i think its a t25, running 16psi, but it has only done about 4000miles, is this about right, also what is the guide price for a recon

take the turbo off and check to see if the exhaust manifold insides are covered in oil

If the mani is dry then turbo seals

if the mani is wet then engine related issue

:agree:

Take turbo off and see if its in the inlet to the exhaust housing too, that way see if its engine or turbo.

Price will always depend on whats wrong with it although once the turbo is apart its normally the rule of thumb to do it all, bet the bearings will have abit of marking on them so worth changing.
Worth giving few turbo specialists a call for price, Speak to Adam L at Turbo Developments in London he'll be able to help out alot with this ;)

Ive also done a compression test
Results

1. 115psi
2. 105psi
3. 100psi
4. 110psi

Sound ok?? And before i go getting refurbs, are the two linked in anyway and any tests i can do to rule anything else out.

Changed oil 300 miles ago
Intermittent smoke,
smokes on over run and idel
Only when warm
No loss of oil pressure
Smoke smells of oil

Comp is alittle down but that could be down to age of engine if its never been touched in its life.

With those symptons sounds to me like turbo has gone, weather oil pressure or contaminated oil will have to be found out. Normally can tell once turbo is apart.

Just about to take turbo off, and found this pipe not connected to anything, anyone shed any light on it. its connected to a t piece that goes near the carb. not sure if i pulled it off but i cant see where it connects too

The black pipe in the picture is the breather pipe that normally goes into the air filter hose, take it that wasn't there when you pulled air filter off.

I would of said oil in the front normally comes fromthe breather but if you not got the breather pipe connected then all it can come from is past the bearings in the turbo.

That pipe looks like the breather return to the OE telephone hose, symptoms not looking good. You taken the turbo off to see if oil in the mamifold where the turbo bolts to??

When your back up and running do yourself a favour and put some clips/zip ties on the vaccum hoses :agree:

Just put everything back together, and went for a spin, now is not smoking, is it defo turbo, as its not that old and there is absolutly no play on the turbine. If it is turbo, then why doesnt it do it all the time, only happened once about 2 months ago and this weekend.
