View Full Version : Broken water pump bolts in head HELP....
When removing water pump one bolt head sheared off, stud extracter has snapped part of the head and looks like someone has been at the other (right hand side of pic).
Any ideas I really dont want a new head.
Thankyou..........

My machine shop removed the ones in my old head and re-tapped the head and supplied some new bolts to use also:)
Obviously the was more expensive than doing it myself;)
So it's more than fixable:)

I've used a helicoil repair in a similar situation before, aluminium is soft so it's easy to drill and tap prior to winding in the repair section.
Might be worth giving it a go, although the further damage you've caused is not going to help things.

Buy some instant gasket, see how long it holds up.
just went to take head off then i thought why not just seal it up it, there s plenty bolt holes to hold the pump in place ????

Cam will be unaffected as it's in the bottom end. Just take it all apart and try keep things in the original slots, but you will need to set your clearances etc. It's pretty straight forward. Leave the dizzy gear alone.
thankyou head off and new one found
