oh dear!!

Its either a oil pressure problem, not good!! or a wiring problem, normally the light will come on at idle if its a pressure problem - more so when hot. you need to test your oil pressure first of all cuz if you dont you could wind up with no engine. = £££ :sad2:

the oil pressure warning lamp is either on or off, it doesnt get brighter. just check the wiring round the sensor. or the main engine wiring loom connector.

it does dim up an down in brightness dependin on the revs, all the wiring is good at both them point, checked all wiring.. so would i be right in sayin when light is comin on its losin oil pressure??

also hope this might help determine the prob... use 20/50 oil it dont do it,, use 15/40 dont really do it only occassionly it dims up.. but on 10/40 its all all the time but dim ???

if it gets brighter with revs, swap the connections over on the pressure sender unit. they are on the wrong way round.

Yea that crossed my mind too!! If the dip stick reading does'nt work either then more than likely its as sparkie says. What should happen is with ignition on, pressure gauge lights up and gauge shows oil level and red oil pressure light is on too. start engine and oil pessure builds up causing red pressure light to go off with oil level too, then you should get oil pressure on gauge with no other lights on. expected readings are 4/5 ish when cold at idle dropping too 2 when hot at idle. (may be different on other cars ) hope this helps ;)
