Smoking & slapping

I have just spent a while going through the effort to fit another engine into my 5 & you can only imagine how frustrated i am to descover the new engine is actually worse than the one ive taken out :sad2:

so any help here would be great before i waste anymore time.

the engine is warm on the video the smoke is 10% worse when cold.

wouldnt worry about the steam but the knockings not nice :( easiest thing to try is sump off and look at the big end bearings perhaps replace them other wise its expensive
