I am looking for mods on a 1.4 GTT which would make the engine power delivery more like a NA engine. That is a more gradual and smooth increase in acceleration going up the revs. I am not interested in more power, only in a better delivery. The car presently has around 200 bhp at the wheels with a T3 / T25 turbo, piper 300 cams and group A carb (among other mods). Thanks for your suggestions.

You could probably try an electronic boost controller, like the AEM Tru Boost system.

retard the cam timing between 4 and 10deg. it'll run like a N/A then....

I think you need a faster spooling turbo and a cam change to suit! Ie almost a standard 5.

Can you recommend some fast spool turbos of larger size (like T30 / T25) ? Something that could reach or exceed 200 bhp at 1.6 bar and still have low lag and start to pull from low revs. I know these (the good ones) go for a lot of money, so hopefully I'll find something below 2000 E.

VNT (T3 size spool of small turbo yet power of a big turbo), I will be prob be selling mine soon due to going to be doing another conversion:laugh::eek:

 not that a VNT gives you a smooth or gradual increase in acceleration it's literally nothing then full boost

Then it is exactly what I do NOT need, so still useful to know :)
Any other options with smooth delivery in power (and not too much lag) ?
About that higher pressure, I would probably not go over 1.6 bar.

its a turbo charged small engine, the only way to have no lag/boost feeling is to take the turbo off. or fit a 172 engine, your never going to get a smooth 200hp. At the end of the day your going from a 60ish hp1.4 to 200hp within a few hundered rpm all you can really do is change where that power comes in. vnt will have power quickly from very low rpm, like a standard t2 will spool up around the 1700/2000 mark and pull all the way through the rev range but will never make 200hp.

If this is the closest I'm going to get to this goal, do you have any links to recommended stores / manufacturer for VNT models ? Particularly the larger varieties...
