I've got a leak coming from the selector shaft that goes up through the casing. Does anyone have a part number for the internal seal/o-ring that seals this shaft as i'd like to order the part now. Renault Oz may have the part in stock if a similar JB3/5 box was fitted to a car over here? They sold some R19s?

Even an exploded diagram would be good:D

Well, found out what it's called after consulting my blue haynes manual. 'fork control shaft oil seal' which appears to be inserted from the outside but, you need to remove the control shaft which is secured from the inside.:( Gearbox overhaul it is then.

How bad is that leak mate? All Renault gearboxes leak a little oil... it's normal

Enough for there to be a little 4-5 cm puddle in the drip tray overnight (12hrs).

a friend of mine packed a load of red rtv oil resistant silicon sealant around the shaft and seal housing (inside the bellows)on his scenic and it worked for a while, when it leaked again it was only a miniscule amount!!worth a try!!

Thanks, might give that a go in the mean time but, want to fix it properly if I can get the bits.

Still need a part number if possible?;)

Woz have a complete spare box, if I can remove the rubber (no leaks originally) happy to stick it in the post for you ;)
