where do i start

first of all fitted new starter motor sounded like a bucket of spanners flying round. One of my local garages said you need a new ring gear. Ok bought a new lightened flywheel with new ring gear fitted another new starter motor still sounds like kak when turning over. It sounds like the gears are not meshing.

have you got the locating dowel fitted? If not 9 out of 10 times this will be your problem. If you have is it in the correct location (there are two).

their was no dowel on the recon starter could that be it. So even tightened up properly without the dowel the starter will be offline is that right

Iv had the same problem mate.. Fitted the dowel and stil doing it.. I had a mess with the starter whilst being loose slightly and cranking it and moving it slightly and the noise goes slightly as you move it fowards or back.. Stil seems abit loudish bit not sure if gtts sound like that when cranking
