The earth connection on the alternator :)

Its the connection with the 8mm nut :)

so that's the one on the right then.....
after 3 and a bit hours last night swearing cursing and generally throwing tools around just want to get it done now...

No, when mounted on the car and looking at it from behind its the one on the left, the narrower one of the two. The one closest to the radiator.

I should of said that first, i have one of those old skool uprated jobbies with both terminals on one side, couldnt remember what the O.E one looked like until i just looked it up and thought it might be easier to say the size of the nut instead.
