orite guys this may sound like a daft question lol

does the 5 have an ECU ?

was speaking to a mate and he suggested getting it mapped but i was unaware that the 5 has a ECU with it being a carb? total numb head just now because just recently striped out engine to rebuild and never came accros anything resembling a ECU ?

If the 5 has it ware is it located?

cheers

Depends on phase of GTT, but in the scuttle passenger side just beside the fan or attached to the bulkhead above the turbo on earlier models. Just follow the king lead from the dizzy cap and you will find it:D

no you cannot chip the r5gtt mate, its all a matter of tuning the carb to what you desire

There is french company that do something with the AEI not sure exactly what but it was quite expensive, only thing thats controlled by the aei is ignition timing, in reality its not really mappable..

I'm shocked no one has flashed oone of these things to improve the map?

can only guess it was because stuff like chip burning etc was a very black art when these came out

would be interesting to see if its a simple remove chip, reburn new chip affair

Me too, i think its probably the better option for me, i cant be bothered with going EFI. i think the benefits from adjusting the ignition map will be huge, much safer higher boost :D:D

I have seen blaster coils fitted to get a better spark, how well it works I dont know. Was thinking of doin it on the volvo lump just to see any improvements.
