Right peeps, it's time to get a cambelt for my new engine and I've been scouting around for prices but a question came up-

Apart from the f7r 714 and 720 engines with the oil pump driven by a chain instead of the cambelt are all f7 cambelts the same?

They all seem to be the same length and same amount of teeth, crucially I wanna know if an f7p cambelt for a R19 16v will fit my megane coupe f7r 710 engine?

Make sure it comes with the idler & tensioner pullies, sometimes they are cheaper when they aren't in the kit ;)

Must be a stupid company then to decide to sell the same item at two different prices, or are they from two different suppliers, eg we can get from dayco and gates and dayco belts are over £30 cheaper.

I think it's a case of them counting on people not finding out that the 2 belts are the same so they can charge more for belt kit on the valver/Williams over the less popular r19 16v belt kit, I'm paying the company a visit Saturday so I'll let you guys know what I find out

Gates 6PK870

I just bought one of these belts for my F7P and it don't fit, its way too long. My alternator is hitting the inlet manifold before even tensioning the belt up

Is there another belt that people use (about 1" shorter) or do i have the wrong alternator mounting bracket? I'm using the conventional Volvo bracket

Im guessing the volvo bracket is different then as just double check our system at work and definately says 6PK870 with fitment -ac-ps for engine code F7P704, you can measure the length with string or if its about an inch shorter can try 6PK843 which funny enough fit the volvo 440 1.7 -ps-ac

Fitted mine last night with the same result so I made up a tensioner that bolts to the water pump

i used a belt from a citreon berlingo diesel van its alot shorter and made my own alternater bracket but i also moved my alternater 40mm closer to the block to allow fitment of intercooler and rad.measure with old belt cut to size and take it the motor factors and get a belt the size you need simples.:p

measure the length you need and go to motor factors ask them to
match it . gates do all lenghts ,peaks and valleys :agree:
