View Full Version : cleaning red carpet
Hi all, anyone recomend the best way of cleaning a red gt carpet? Not sure weather id need a vax or a steam cleaner?
personally i use washing up liquid and water in a bucket (hot), i soak the carpet and scrub it pretty hard, then i use an OLD hoover to suck it out, this seems to work quite well but may kill the hoover.
Cheers will give that a try.
Carpet is pretty dirty so hopefully it will clean up nice!

look in my 'barn find' thread in projects....
we took mine out, steam cleaned it with G101 (a detergent) and left to dry
looks good as new now :)
Markey, what type of steam cleaner did you use? As if I steam clean the carpet I will have to hire one, or have seen this one at screwfix

would that be any good?

big on at my brothers work (mazda main dealer)
have u got any mates that do valeting?
Unfortunately not locally, so looks like I will have to hire one or go round one of these hand carwashes and ask how much theyd charge.
Can you at all clean a carpet with a standard pressure washer and detergent or would that just go straight through the carpet? As ive got a kersher
Use a jet wash with some cleaning products, soak it, scrub it, then jet wash, hang it up for a day then use an old hoover to suck out water or go to an arc car wash at night and use theres, every fecker has tried that here

Yeh iv done that it works well, also a damp microfibre is good with shampoo or washing liquid, wen u ring it out you can see all the dirt that comes out
Cheers for advise looks like this carpet is getting a good scrub then pressure wash/shampoo
Will chuck a pic up when ive sorted it!
Carpet has come up a treat after the soap and water scrub, will give it another go before pressure washing at the weekend!
cheers again for advice!
