Back in Feb I bought my first 5 from him. Ha - if only I knew before!

Trading under the above name but also trades with no name.

The Postcode on AutoTrader is WA1 1PJ.

The address is:
JL Motors
Bank Quay Trading Estate
****chers Lane
warrington
Cheshire

He normally always sells for around £2000.

I would show some of his ads but can't seem to find any! I will show you the pics of my car he took - normally all the pics of the cars he's are taken in the same place so you may be able to tell form this (below).

The cars seem to be slightly modified and he always advertises the mods, normally with prices of much things were brand new.

There are many reasons for you not to buy from him - I tryed to take him court but it wasn't worth it in the end so his trading seems to have died down a bit.

I belive he buys ringers, re-sprays them, covers up any problems they have VERY WELL and sells them on for £2k. He seems very helpful and genuine but is a liar.

Some issues were:

*He took us out for a drive, when we got back he told us he didn't have a licence
*He tryed to make us drive home down the motorway with no tax cos he didn't want to go and get it from the post office - he sent his mate in the end. This was after I'd paid for it.
*He told us the reason the revs would drop was beacuse of the choke - we didn't know any better not having a manual choke before. It was actually the Renix and TDC and we broke down 5 minutes after leaving - made it home though :)
*The fuel sender unit was leaking badly and he had covered it up with a piece of carpet so we couldn't smell petrol
*He said we would get a head-unit with it, but after i'd bought the car and asked him for it, he told me to go to Halfords and buy one
*There were loads of bits missing off the carb - bought a new carb
*When my boyfriend drove it off, a few minutes down the road he could hear a noise coming from the passenger front wheel - he hadn't done the fekin thing up, that's great when your about to drive 200 miles home down the motorway
*On closer inspection when we got home, all wheel nuts were the wrong size and there were only 3 on each wheel and there were no seatbelts in the back - MOT failure? It has an MOT but i'm sure that's dodgy too.
*More things that I can't remember at the mo - there were about 17 things on the letter of complaint I wrote to him - which he kindly ignored 3 times.

When we complained to him on the phone, he blamed me. He basicaly said if you didn't notice it, it's your fault. He got really agressive with me - I had to hang up cos I couldn't even talk to him. His answer to all this was to send me a headgasket kit (which actually came in quite useful cos we needed it last month!)

He also tends to swap bits around on the cars he's got - ie if there's somethng missing off a carb of a car he's about to sell, he will take it off another one. I think that's probably what happened with the seatbelts. I know this cos there was one of those little plastics bits missing from the back window so he just got one off another car.

I must admit, I love my car now and the problems he covered up are all sorted - the bodywork is mint. It's just the the way he handled the whole situation and the fact that he's getting away with this all the time.

*Someone else on here mentioned he'd taken them out for a test drive and forgot to put the brakes back on - he said it didn't matter - use the handbrake!

*Also he had told sombody else that the reason why one car was cutting out when you put your foot down, was because it was standard!

Basiccaly, don't be as naive as I was and buy from him

Ive heard of this guy and seen his ads about too. What a cowboy. Shame that most of the time when these motors seem too good to be true, they often are :( glad you only had fairly minor probs and your happy with your car now :D

there is no such thing as sold as seen anymore there is a law out to protect car buyers, stating that its the sellers responsibilty to make sure the car is safe and legal.

i would look at this as maybe a lesson learnt.;)

When you buy via trade yes. Privately, no.

Yeh, I think he was a trader. I went to see a car he was selling, and it was about £1000 overpriced.
