I recently discovered that a Murco petrol station near me sells Leaded petrol. I normally run my standard GT Turbo on Shell V Power, but am tempted to try some Leaded.

Leaded fuel was withdrawn just before I got my first GT Turbo so have never run one on it.

The only thing I will check is how regularly the tank gets filled (based on how popular it is amongst locals with older/classic cars). I read that octane rating drops off pretty quickly when petrol sits around and have seen an example of this.

About 10 years ago, a friend took his Subaru Impreza STi off the road for about a year to go away on business. When he returned, we gave the car the once over, got the oil pressure up before trying to start it. The car refused to start...we eventually put it down to the fuel and within about 5 seconds of turning over with fresh fuel, the car started.

That is interesting, I was expecting people to say don't bother. Next fill up I will probably pop some in.

The last time I used it, it was about £1.30 per litre. I only used it as a rare treat, because it was so expensive

hehehehe.

Not looked at the price of good ol' leaded around here since mainstream petrol went through the roof. I assume it has followed suit. If it has, I'd expect over £1.60 a litre. I'll have a look next time I pass.

GTT's seem fine on SUL but given the money and availability I'd still prefer to run on leaded. :agree:

I put a full tank of leaded in my car a couple months back, apparently it was the only garage in a 500 mile radius that sold it, that was 1.60 a litre at the time. I dread to think how much it is now :-(
