batery light

my battery light on my gtt does not illuminate, if i turn on the ignition i get nothing or if i run the engine and remove the 2 wires ontop of the alternator i still get no light. its not the bulb either. any ideas?

the plug was giving some restistance but the main fault lies withing the alternator, all wires have been checked and when earthed the light illuminates so new alternator time :(.
