Booked the wifes 5 in for MOT & i know the front rubs on full lock which is a fail :(
Can i put 2 different rims on the front as long as the tyres are good or will they not do it like that ??

I think it's ok as long as the 2 tyres/wheels are the same size on the same axle. My old 5 use to rub and never failed but that was 10 years ago.

Your right.

i put my 5 in last year with 16"s on the front an 15's one the back. Not a problem :)

They will accept it like that but they will probably make a note of it for themselves incase anything comes of it.

something similar happened at my local mot station, the tester thought it was strange so took a pic & made a note, sure enough a month down the line, the ministry arrived asking why they'd passed a car with bold tyres! (the lad switched them just for the mot)
v lucky as they were going to shut them down for a while & send him on some course.

yupp its ok as long as you got same size wheels and tyres on each axle .
they will put it on the advisories though

If thats the case Steve you can borrow a couple of my 15" OZ's matey for the MOT:) if you needed all 4 maybe a struggle as I have puncture on 1 which needs repairing as you inflate it and it pretty much goes down as soon as inflated.:(

i had 16s on my five a few years ago and they didnt rub at all? they were 7inch wide not sure on the offset tho.

anyway i think the reason they didnt rub was because i had spacers on, i know spacers arnt an ideal thing to have on all the time but why not just try some spacers and if it make the wheels clear the arches then just wack em on for the mot.:)

She has 17's & they rub a bit on lock, can't be arsed with spacers :crap:

bearing in mind that when its tested there
is no load on the tyres so it dosent sqiush
them, you maybe ok,depends how bad they
are rubbing really.

Mine passed with rubbing wheels !!! I think it's only because when cars jacked up they drop bellow the point where they rub oh and you could have a mixture of wheels as long as matey before said that there same size on each axle !!
