Rubber Gaiter Removal

Hi,

I want to inspect the universal joint that connects the steering column to the rack. How do I remove the big rubber gaiter without braking it?

Is it tied on with anything...metal clips/cable ties etc?

I have had a quick look but it isn't obvious, don't fancy tugging it, braking it then finding out a new one is £90 or something crazy!

Ok so I guess it is a tug and see type approach!

I suspect mine is the later type which is solid steel with no rubber, so might just need a tighten, but will be sure to speak to mike if it is the older design.

Being an H plate car, it could be either.
