Smell of fuel when tank is full

I got paid today so i thought i would treat the 5 to a full tank of Super dooper rather then just putting in £20 every now and then.

When i left the fourcourt i could still smell fuel, 20 miles down the road i could still smell it. I think it was coming from inside the car. It has never smelt of fuel before, it normally smells of oil ! :D I have used a quarter of a tank now and i cant smell anything?

Only seems to do it when the tank is full?

The bung in the fuel tank leaking? can you see anything from under the car looking at tank ? (ie a leak? )

I will jack it up and have a look :agree: It didnt seem to be leaving any puddles on the floor when parked up but i guess thats because it is evaporating away?

This is gonna sound very very stupid but i have to ask as i will never learn : Why is there a bung in the fuel tank?

i guess because they might use it other cars at the time....or a molding thing.....i dont know 100% but they love to leak from it :)

as you can see its located half way up so you will only know when you fill her up :cooter:

I had this when I first got my 5 it was the seal between the tank and the sender
