Never owned one, but heard nothing but good things from people who do own them. Supposed to be an awesome drive. Very nimble, predictable, nice gear change, revvy engine, etc.

My mate is a well know specialist in mx's there is 7 of them currently parked on my street including one thats been turbo'd and a supercharged one:cool:

it depends on if it's a mk1/2/2.5/3 the mk1/2 and some 2.5's have two types of 1.6 engine as far as i know both good in n/a form but only one is good for turbo/supercharging. The 1.8's tend to be the ones with the better gearbox's (some even have LSD as standard) brakes bigger injectors ect ect.

The imports are usually the ones with the least rot, they are very prone to the sills and rear arches rotting and also the front wings so well worth giving them a very good check over for the orange stuff.

usually the drain tubes being blocked cause the sills to rot.

Obviously a good roof is a plus from memory you need to budget about 400 notes for a new one.

The shocks go rock hard when worn (literally bone shakingly hard)

I'n N/A form they are wicked little cars to drive plenty of fun being rear wheel drive.

Once turbo'd they are very interesting indeed using 7psi they feel as nippy as a gtt with a t2 running 15psi if not more so:agree:

I almost sold my raider to buy and turbo one but i just couldn't bring myself to do it!:D

I think its a mk1 going by the age of it......same age as my 5!!

I tracked a few and if I remember right you can adjust everything, meaning you can always tweak you handling as bushes etc wear, leaving you with an awesome drive all the time. :)

Late Mk1, 1.8, import, manual with later type LSD and a glass rear screen (or hard top), is the one you want. :agree:

went and had a little look around it last night, its a 1991 import eunos 1.6. its black, tan leather interior, 16inch wheels......but automatic - pretty nippy though!.
looks a tidy little car, and has been well looked after
bodywork was in good condition bar a small rusty dent on rear qtr.
the g/f is having another look at it today in the daylight and will decide if she wants it!

Watch out for clutch problems, my stepmother (or stupid fat yank as I called her) had no end of trouble with hers, she bought it brand new and its had 3 clutches since she got it, started off with a vibration at low speeds, in the end the friction plate imploweded, ****s knows why it happened but Mazda never gave the same answer twice :sad2:

stupid fat yank :sad2:

i think thats your problem there!!

mx5's are awesome! rarely break and when they do there a piece of piss to fix.
only things on them to look out for are discs corrode through lack of use, and arb link rods wear. cambelts due at 54k, but if its snaps, chuck on another, retime and alls well

:agree::agree::agree:

that looks mintl! is he gonna be keeping it red?
I've only had a little blast in this one as I am not a named driver on the new policy:(
But it feels fairly nippy and the handling feels nice and responsive, it was my first time driving an automatic, was more fun than I expected
