:ashamed: sorry i have done a quick search, im sure a read a post about it but cant find it now. So how do i do it ? do i just turn the nut on the actuator rod?

Im going on a rolling road on Saturday and wanted to turn the boost up a bit first :smokin:.
I have a T2/25 turbo standard cam, standard carb, fmic, oil cooler, uprated? headgasket, whats the max safe boost shoud i be going for, 15 psi ?

2nd question
i have an aem afr gauge fitted but figures are off all over the place driving normal it jumps up and down from 10 to the max i think it goes to 18.

if i hold it steady it will stay almost at the same reading.

on idle its 11.9 (i know its supposed to be around 14) but when i unscrew the mixture screw it goes down even lower. if i screw it in (tighten) almost as far as it will go i can get 14. shouldnt it rise as i unscrew?.

Cheers

Found this from

a bit of usefull info on here
Adjusting the boost pressure via actuator

Intro:

To adjust the boost pressure of our friend Garrett T2, simply bolt / unbolt the wategate actuator. The shorter it is, the more pressure it takes to open the wastegate, and therefore the more boost pressure you get (take care if you're increasing the boost pressure (http://membres.multimania.fr/r5gt/gtt/tecst3.htm#boost)) http://1.1.1.2/bmi/membres.multimania.fr/r5gt/gtt/garret.gifProcedure:

Remove or at least loose the thermical turbo screen to access and remove the circlip (a) that retains the turbo actuator rod (b) in the wastegate arm. Unbolt the nut (c) and remove the actuator rod from the wastegate. Use a pair of good plyers to hold the threaded zone (don't rotate it too much, not to damage the actuator internal membrane) and turn the rod. It's usually hammered to the thread, to prevent people from moving the setting, so drill the hammering point before turning it! Mount the circlip and test drive the car. Three turns clockwise should increase the boost in about 0.2 bar (3psi), but this is a matter of trial and error. When you finally get the desired boost pressure (http://membres.multimania.fr/r5gt/gtt/tecst6.htm#turbogg) tighten the nut, mount the thermical screen again and that's it! Notes:

Be careful with the wastegate actuator and rod not to bend it or damage it anyway as it can easily be ruined

My gauge was all over the place too, i had an exhaust leak and it needed recalibrating. i didnt think calibrating would cause it to jump from off the scale in both directions.. but it did. i wouldnt go any higher than 15psi, even that may run a little lean.
