I think I remember reading a long time ago that the oe setup was fantastic upto 200bhp. and tbh if I could fit that back in I would have it in there.

What power you looking at?

Not that much yet lol just trying to clean the engine bay up. Need to fit my front mount would the standard setup get in the way. Is there advantage of a different filter or does it sound better cheers

Ron,

As said, leave the standard box in situ and put a better filter element in it. Leaving the standard box in gives a smoother feel and sound and also is a good cold air feed.

To be fair, Renault did nothing wrong when they designed and made the car with OE airbox as it works best, has cold airfeed and doesnt suffer from heat-soak in engine bay. Seen so many 5's with airfilter sitting right next to a turbo with no heatshield, that wont do much good at all... :dearme:

If i could fit the stock air filter setup back into my car i definately would, the cold air feed doesnt seem to fit with the GT Tuning breadbin cooler :-( Might be time for a front mount.

I wonder if you could replace the stock airbox with something like a BMC CDA airbox, mounted vertically in the OE position and connected up to the OE cold feed and telephone hose ?

Would that be of any benefit over the stock system ?
