it looks like my rocker cover is leaking from the bolts the hold it in place.
when i put it on it had brand new washers to go with it.

and the other day it looked like it was leaking so i got some similar washers from halfords. and it still looks to be leaking.

any one got any tips on how to solve this? cheers

i use water pump gaskets as the holes are the right size and cut a circle around the hole and use that as a washer. works perfectly and they are always kicking around from headgasket sets that havnt been used.

You can still buy the little gaskets from renault matey they are alot better than the ones you get in the H/G sets. I am sure someone will post up the part number

well well well geuss what i have lying here from a left over from a headgasket set
both gaskets for the pump.

which gasket do you use? the small one or the big one?

and on the rocker should i have the bracket for the boost hose on? to help with it getting tightend up right? not sure if the bracket gets done up by the same bolt.

cheers m8

as mentioned, your better off with the genuine renault washers for the rocker cover!

they are made from a thick rubber as opposed to the thin sh1te you get with aftermarket gasket sets!

The washers are single, unless its changed since the last time i got a set. The gen renault ones are the best, everything else i tried seemed to leak after a bit. Cheap as chips aswell..

yes, i double checked that number as it came up first....

it was a bad supersession and was actually the nuts that held it down.....human error.

make sure the area where the washer sits is flat and hasnt been pushed downwards by tightening the bolts too much.

if they have been bent, then take the rocker cover off and hammer the area flat with a small hammer. - this gives a flat surface for the washer to sit on and seal properly.

also check to see if the rocker cover sides are bent outwards.- if they are then bend them back in, so they sit on the head properly.

This is gunna get some abuse thrown at me but here's what I do.

A couple of years back I had the same problem until 1 day I saw a guy on a dyno with GTT engine mk1 clio and he was busy replacing his rocker bolt washers after having to adjust his timing, with......... cardboard

Yep he had the bit of cardboard you get in the back of a gasket set, make a small hole in the board and tighten the nut down over it then use a stanley knife to trim it back job done:agree:
