Anyone stripped a 5 gt trbo gear box? easy job? When i jack up one side of the car and spin the wheel it wont turn the engine over, maybe a diff problem?

When you say it won't spin the engine, I assume its in gear when you do it?
yes. Even tried jacking up both front wheels and spinning both at the same time. clutch is ok too.
if you can start the car, put it into gear and it doesnt go anywhere, then it sounds like the circlip in the n/s of the gearbox has broken. - easy fix - gearbox doesnt need to be removed either.
interesting. would the cir clip be at the drive shaft hole

Yep, I'd agree with the popped circlip, best way of checking is, jack the passenger side up and drain some or all of the gearbox oil, then remove the passenger wheel, undo the hub or strut bolts to free the driveshaft CV end from the hub, after that, undo the three 13mm head driveshaft bolts around the ring on the passenger driveshaft and pull it off the car, take a peek into the hole and expect to see the circlip on the end of the driveshaft or floating around the diff area......
Ill get right on it. Could save a buck or three! Thank you very much for your info, hope thats the problem. Appreciated cheers

i know customers that have been told there gearbox is goosed and needs a rebuild and this is all thats been done :disagree:
checked the box. c clip is whole and in place bad times

Sounds like you have the same problem I had with my old gearbox, circlip is fine yet I had no forward gears, reverese still worked though:confused: figure that one out
When i tried to move the car in reverse it jumped backwards then wouldnt go either way in any gear after that, getting a new box anyway. Im a plant mechanic and stripped many larger gear boxes but this one is for the scrap!
