I'd like some new alloys for my 5, with the intention to paint them grey. Am I correct in saying these would be a straight fit?

I'd get new tyres for them.. as it says in the add, they're currently 185 wide. Would fitting 195 wide tyres make much difference?

Come on Bric, bosh some speedlines on there and get it slammed :D

I would go speedlines... but you can't get any decent tyres for them can you?

185/60. LOADS of choice!

You're right actually.

Quick look on Camskills, they do Falcon ZE912's which I have on my Beemer and I'm very happy with! Hhhm! Worth a thought.

I also have a set of 4 13" spare wheels (the ones that look like cup wheels) with Dunlop Formula R D98J tyres (road legal semi slicks), which I might clean up and see what they look like. Need a re paint though

I've just had a look on Camskill. There used to be more choice than that in 185/60, I'm sure.

They were a lot cheaper as well. I bought a set of Toyo C1F's for my 5, two and a half years ago, and I swear they were £23 each. Now they're £40

Tyre prices seem to have been loaded quite a lot post tax increase. I looked at the price of 265/35/18 tyres for my BMW before the tax increase, and it was about £90 a tyre for 1 Falken ZE912. After increase it was £111. I'm not a mathematician, but I'm fairly sure that's more than a 2.5% increase!

Im not 100% but is the offset not wrong on the clio alloys, i know James had to use spacers on the 16" 172 alloys, they look the same as these just a tad bigger.

Yeh, I think they look awesome on his car.

Cheers Shakes!

My friend breaks clio's, and he has a set that I may be buying. I'm gonna try them first. Shakes - did you need spacers on all 4 wheels?

Shakes

yes bit strange though i had 5mm spacers already on the car not realising the offset was diffrent i put the 2 wheels from the front of the clio on one side and the 2 from the back on the other, well with the once from the back fit perfectly where as the once from the front need spacing more. i still need to buy the 2 larger spacers.
im guessing 5mm on the back and 15-20mm on the front should do it.

Bric, that is a picture of the 16" version of those wheels by the looks of it. They look OK in that instance but 16" wheels detract from handling/ride.

Also, not that you should go on my say so but I think those wheels in 15" guise look absolutely grim on a GTT. :(

There are some fab 15" OE Renault wheels to choose from - Clio 172 Ph1 Oz style, Williams wheels, R19 16v Ph1, that would suit much more IMO.

Either way I'm just glad you're keeping it. :agree:

Trev - cheers for the feedback.

What makes you say that about them in 15"? I think they can look poop on high profile tyres. I would be fitting fairly low profile tyres (195/45/15).

Not sure though. I would quite like some turbines. Are they a straight fit do you know? As in, no spacers or spiggot rings needed?

Also, yeh.. not sure I could bring myself to sell it. It's by far the longest I've ever owned a car (over 3 years), and by far had the most effort and money spent on it. Also, in the current economic climate, I don't think I'd get what I want for it. I wouldn't accept a penny less than £3k, but I don't think that's realistic atm.

Cheers for the offer, but not really the style I was after. Think I'm going to do a deal with Brigsy :)

Nice one Bric. :)

Turbines, R19 16V Ph1 wheels and afaik the Williams wheels are all a direct fit mate. Not sure about Ph1 172 Oz wheels.

Sometimes I think turbines could do with a couple of 2-3mm spacers just to look right in the arches.

I think Brigsy's wheels are ace. See how you get on with them. Are they on 45 profile tyres?

BriC
14-02-2011, 14:30
Judging by the pictures in his profile, they look like it. Not sure though TBH. 3 of the 4 tyres have 2mm tread left anyway, so I'd either replace 3 if they are 45 profile, or all 4 if they're 50 profile.

My current wheels have 50 profile tyres, but IMO 45 looks much better, and from what I remember, is nigh on exactly the same rolling radius as OE wheels and tyres.

Hey Bud,

Got your PM, on the 16" version of the wheels i ran 5mm spacers all round, but it might be totally different on the 15" version as they came on the none sport clio's hence the track on the car would have been narrower.

I'd imagine they may be a straight fit? IMO, they will look good on a 45 profile tyre as long as the car is lowered enough to compliment them.

Trev is bang on with the comment on the 16's totally compromised the handling hence now running smaller rims.

If you get them i still have my 5mm spacers your welcome to have for nothing. where are you based?
