well i think theres going to be alot of controversy at todays grand prix, with massa winning the title, trulli has said he will do everything to help ferrari win, whats the title got to do with him? i can see he ran a very light car to qualify that well

go lewis!

not the season, earlier in the year he was driving like a cock, throwing away good point scoring positions. But yes, towards the end of the year the old Alonso was back, the guy he was before he was world champion, the guy who was clearly going to be world champion, and will be again.

Never ever seen a final lap like that! Honestly thought Hamilton had blown it, then when I saw Glock's car on that 2nd to last corner, it was...well, just lost for words moment.

Fecking, absolute top drawer :)

Only downer is that I so bloody wish I had put another bet on Lewis at the start of this season :( Thanks to that 'gearbox gremlin' (!) from Brazil last year, I lost a 4 figure payout  Anyway, that's old news...

so picture this - your Brazilian tonight, what would you be thinking?

i'm not knocking Hamilton, but lets hope next year he leaves daddy at home

i've never been a fan of Mclaren, back in the 80's 90's etc. and apart from a weird lapse in the mid 90's when i suported Hill :crap::rolleyes: i've been a Ferrari fan for years even when they couldn't build a car! LOL never suported my "renault", always gone for the dream car i never want!

so i'll stick with my team, and hope next year they win both titles!

As for his Dad, and forgive me for bringing golf up, Tiger Woods had his father with him at all times until he died and in this day and age I think thats a good thing! These guys are special and with the modern world being like it is with the press etc and demand for attention, I think a family member as a mentor/guardian is a good thing. Im sure Ive read about how families are breaking down...well, in this case families are strong and encouraging some great individuals to do what they were born to do :)

ahahah, brilliant stuff Paul.

Moggy - I would be absolutely gutted that my driver hadn't won the championship. I don't remember booing anyone who won fair and square over a Brit. As for supporting Ferrari, no issue there, they are a cool team.

Spooky - he's the youngest ever champion and he has the most points at the end of the season. That's it.

The lack of 'fair play to the lad' on here from the boo boys is a poor show tbh.

Excellent race again rain makes it exciting a really big hint here how to improve F1 and reduce costs, get rid of the aerodynamics.

Lewis has won that championship 3 times over the only prob with yesterday is that it will encourage Bernie to continue massaging the results.

As for the Silver Ferrari last year. Do not forget that Ferrari deliberatly cheated with a moveable floor. A clear deliberate premeditated hard to detect cheat which I would put on a level with Toyotas hidden enlarging inlet to the turbos on their rally cars that saw them banned. McLaren just had a rogue employee.

Penfold aka The Dealer

As did Ferrari... but they wernt punished for that... takes 2 to tango.

paul b
03-11-2008, 16:28
as far as I am aware NO evidence has been shown to show McLaren actually did anything wrong,.they paid the fine , took the punishment but all without any FIA evidence.....guess if your big enough to play poker on that level then you can bluff without REAL evidence....LOL..

theres always been some sharing of knowledge in F1, look at how cars all look different at the end of a season to how they start......

there will always be driver knowledge passed on as they change teams,etc...

Alex
03-11-2008, 17:30
What an amazing race! I doubt we'll ever seen anything like that again.

I think Hamilton totally deserved the championship after all he's been through this year ( Spa bull**** for example) I must say I didn't think he'd got the title on the last lap until I saw Glock struggle on the dry tyres - incredible! I think this will be just the start of something hugh for Lewis Hamilton.

Full marks to Massa who is still in Kimi's shadow (no idea why?) he's certainly come a long, long way in his F1 career. Poor showing from the Braziain crowd though...

Tip for a future WC: Vettel.

Really doesn't.. Have you ever driven in the wet, racing, on slicks?

Ricardo
03-11-2008, 18:34
Exactly Minty, i'm watching the last lap and Vettel is in front of Hamilton and i'm thinking "Well it's over Hammy!" and then Glock gives it the ol slow one!! I think his telemetry needs checking, i bet there's nothing wrong with his motor and no need to slow down!

Ricardo
03-11-2008, 18:37

There IS a difference between slowing down big and still giving it beans, twitching the rear end.

BriC
03-11-2008, 18:45
As Glock said in an interview.. He was just trying to keep it on the tarmac. And as Vettel said (who obviously wasn't giving Hamilton any special treatment).. It was really bad conditions. He said it was really hard to even see who he was racing.

I'm sure that if this is true, Glock would have more brains than to be giving it beans and end up facing the wrong direction. In reality he would be taking it easy, so close to the finish line, with the hope/potential to score some decent points.

Adam L
03-11-2008, 18:49
These were two times compared from the last lap...

Glock - Toyota - Dry Tyres - Last Lap: 1.44.7
Trulli - Toyota - Dry Tyres - Last Lap: 1.44.8

What a crock of sh*t. Earlier in the season it was proved that there's a 30 second difference a lap when on dry tyres on a wet surface compared to intermediates.

Glock's last lap was 28 seconds slower than his previous one.

This is all feckin academic anyway. Glock could have come in for tyres like everyone else and if he had, Hamilton would have been in front of him in the same way he was before it started to rain. In the event, Glock gambled and it very nearly paid off (but it didn't). Big deal. The joke that Glock was paid is very funny, the idea there is some truth in it is simply baseless.

Surely that's not that confusing, even for a girl :p

He was told he had to overtake Glock, because he did have to overtake Glock, or he wouldn't have been champion.

Martin Whitmarsh said in interview after the race that their GPS signals showed that Glock had slowed massively, and Hamilton was on course to catch him before the end of the lap. So they had to make sure he passed him, and not sat behind him.

Well no, with the rain, the amount of people he was overtaking and the heat of the moment, I doubt it was that clearcut that he knew what position everyone else was in, and who exactly he was overtaking when
