View Full Version : removing the fuel filler pipework
Just wondering how much of a job it is to remove the fuel filler pipe work , i have a bad section of rust which is behind the driver rear light and the easiest way to get to it will be though the wheel arch, however i need to move that pipe out the way

Its a fairly straight forward job
1.drain fuel tank,or make sure fairly empty when you jack it up fuel will sit at other side
2.remove metal ring that sits behide the filler neck rubber (case of just picking it out by hand)
3.mark up all fuel lines returns etc... and undo
4.undo two jubilee clamps at bottom of filler neck next to tank
5.now wiggle about till you get it out
6.bish bosh
sweet, does it not lock at the top , behind the filler flap soem how ?
or yes sorry undo the 2 nuts at back of flap one of these holds the plastic pipe,8mm or 10mm
sweet, thanks dude, out of interest, whats the best way of draining the tank ( and please dont say to drive it)
unless that sucker is full up i would not bother, just stick a rag in the hole....
:agree:,the flap can stay on to,but if you needed to take it off an the nuts
are toast then cut off an just put new bolts in there.
maybe some rust under that filler neck rubber to....
dont forget to check the vent pipe gap on re-fitting :agree:
