My 5 has been sitting on the drive over christmas (with the snow etc.) it sits level and flat, I dont think it could have come in from the floor, are there any drainage holes etc. where it could get in????

Any holes in the bulkhead? Normally they get drilled for boost gauges or in-car bleed valves.
Probably your heater matrix i bet it has frozen and gone pop and now the water has leaked into your footwell had the same issue many years ago and it was a pig to change

i have the same problem and it aint the matrix, have checked and no holes in bulkhead, no sunroof, and mines also parked on flat ground, its always the drivers side that is getting soaked and if you look carefully theres drops of water coming in from near the matrix and when you brake for the first time in the morning about another half a cup falls down from the matrix area, i had been told two things could be the culprit,
1-plastic T-seal seal missing off bottom of windscreen rubber letting water into windscreen recess and leaking passed a bit of corrosion or missing tiger bond??
2-standard plastic bonnet latch cover missing letting water in through heater fan??
has anyone else suffered the same/similar problem and if so how did you fix it??

I think the problem was the fact that the snow and ice on the bonnet and windscreen was stopping the run off as it melted and so found its way into the car. I have since hoovered it out and it seems ok... One to remember next winter....;)
I fitted a new scuttle panel and gave the car a good wash last night and water still came through the fan.
Is the bonnet meant to seal against the scuttle in anyway?
It appears that the water can run down the windscreen, over the lip of the scuttle, into the bonnet lock hole and through my fan??
Any ideas how to fix this?
have you got the rubber seal that runs along the scuttle panel and the small rubber seal that half moons around the bonnet catch, try lowering your bonnet catch so the bonnet sits tighter on the seal

yeah when you wash ur car take more car, maybe pop up the bonnet an plonk a newspaper or rag over the fan grill...
:)
I have the rubber seal nearest the window and one thicker one nearer to the engine.... didnt know that the bonnet catch would have one round...damn.
Something else I need to order from Mike.

Had that problem with mine, puddle in driver side footwell hence still no carpet! doesnt need hoovering out though ;) Now that its been in garage for couple of months still puddle so heater matrix needs replacing. Might be worth sitting in it outside when its raining as cant quite simulate rain by washing it :)
Theres a rubber gromit/bung under drivers side dashboard.
Mine was popped out when i was getting water there. I think Roger showed me where it was and from that point on its been dry as a.........er......... Normal car.

Sounds like the half moon rubber missing from yours is the culprit, had the same issue with two previous r5s, only occurs with heavy rain or washing with hose.
Half moon rubber as shown in pic.

Can you still get the half moon rubber that goes around bonnet catch area?
