Just a little taster of what i'm changing this year, the photo was taken outside the polishers as i'd just picked them up from the powder coaters. Lip's will be done by tomorrow :D

I might nickname them my marmite wheels, i'm sure they will divide opinion.

I'd be worried about the powder coat lifting if you polish the rim .It will give the elements a way in underneath .
I like the colour though :agree:

Different.
My convertible had red wheels with yellow centre caps when i bought it (red car with red yellow and black interior )
First thing i did was paint em black lol.

Didnt some1 off here from epsom way have blue wheels on his black 9/11turbo years ago? Or pink?

The edges on the original ones are not bare metal. A tough clear varnish of some kind.

Once polished ill check the quality of the break to the Powder coating, however they seamed confident down at rainbow it would be a nice clean line.

The cars garaged during the winter, so i'm not to worried about corrosion. Have you seen my other set!

If i think its necessary ill laquer the edges to the step in the alloy, however i'm against this as if I damage the rim or it does get tarnishing/corrosion its not easy to re-polish. I have a polishing mop and correct soap bars if i need to do this.

Yep, going to put 195 / 50's on though as that still works on the 5 but also wont look stupid on the 172. I love hooning round track in the 5 but get more and more worried about wrecking it. The 172 on the other hand..................I couldn't give a f*ck!:D

Got my willy track wheels with 195 50 15 888s on, god they are big, i stood them next to the 16s and they are bigger, i know you go off the centre of the wheel but a bit worried.

Im glad you said the 50s fit on a 15" wheel, how close are they for rubbing, my car sits about the same as yours captain?

Are these the polished ones or a different set?? Would be a shame if they were, how much did it cost to get them all polished mate?

Phil, I used to run Eagle F1's on clio Ph2 alloys in 50 profile no probs, they were also bigger than my 16's. Also don't forget you wont have people in the back. You will get rubbing on the front on lock, but i'm guessing you get that now?

Polished ones are still on the car fella ;). I have an addiction.
Rainbow charged me £25 a wheel fully polished, don't know if he would do it for that price again, he said they were a nightmare :crap:

Captain, andy aka trixflix is always hounding me mate, i have had 2 people already offer me money for it.

I can honestly say i have not cut no corners, spent now 10k honest, i think 11k to get it all finished. I have been emailing scoff about aem gauges etc and i still need to put a stereo in.

Have you seen the pictures in my profile, they were taken on my phone not the best, so do not really do the car justice.

Thanks very much though, your car was what sent me down this road, i so wanted your car on the 172 rims, just wanted the cage and buckets to :)

I actually fancy another one a nice standard leccy blue, like the one up for sale in the classifieds. Need to get my daily driver sorted first though.

I hope your at Mallory this year, i can not wait ;)

They are mint. If your going with the Williams wheels, i do hope you go black or grey with the outer lip in a bright red. That would look , the red would pic out the decals on the side and the calipers.

I like black wheels, but think it can make the tyres look brown / dirty, which makes me more keen on grey as it would also tie in with the side decals.

Would look the shizzle, Fo Sho Mo Fo

J8TRO
20-01-2011, 14:04
Not fitted the fan yet mate, its on my to do list, going to fit it to the front of the rad and run it as well as the std one. Changed my starter motor but still need to change the petrol tank, new water pump, passenger side window reg and then need to get it running right. Will be taxed from March so I have a few months to get it ready.

Would like to put on some original decals with a twist (;)) and also get my spoiler done.

City Powder Coating in Birmingham do any wheels up to 18" for £20 a wheel! I did some research - Namely getting my mate to send his there first .

They can do any RAL or BS number and even do some pear colours etc for an additional cost. The cost also includes fully shot blasting the wheels and chemical dipping before paint.

They do have some minor bits in the paint, but considering how much it costs you in materials and effort to do them yourself with rattle cans, its not worth it. Plus PC is so much tougher.

Only downside was the service, they had the wheels the week before Christmas and said at the time "yeah, be done by the end of the week". i only got them back Thursday! however if your not in a rush I wouldn't worry. I think they had trouble getting the powder I wanted. I don't think they get much call for it. My friends wheels where done grey and turned round in just over a week.
