Who has moved the header tank to either the scuttle area or elsewhere?
Just that I have a heat shield around the air filter but it is still to close to the turbo for my liking. So I would like to move the filter to the header tank position.
How much work is involved? Pics would be ace! :agree:

I done mine about 6 months ago, moved the header tank upto the scuttle area. The water pipes were easy enough i just used the originals at both ends, just turned them and moved them about and used copper / stainless piping in the middle of them. Then bought Samco piping and joiners to move my air filter to behind the headlight. I will try and take some pic's up tonight or tomorrow ;)

I have moved mine to the anti perc fan location never had any problems only downside is that to bleed the system you have to give the header tank some head:eek:

But fits in nicely

I know you had some moretts, but now you havent do you get sufficent air flow to the filter in its current position?

I have got around that.

Not the best of pics but you can see the ducting hose on the right hand side. (I will find a better picture when I get home from work)

When i had my air filter like that i made a hole in the arch bit behind the headlight and put the ducting to the front bumper and one from behind my grille into the airbox and that seemed to work fine. But now change my mind again and pulled all that out :D

I have moved mine to were the original air box used to be and the air filter behind the passenger head light, haz did mine for me many moons ago.(when i didnt know how to use a spanner!) He used the original header tank bracket chopped it with a grinder an mounted it using an earth point in the scuttle panle. All i had to do was swap the bottom two hose around an do a bit of re-routing and find a sutible hose/pipe for the air filter to make it sit correctly. you will also have to re-mount the horn(i used cable ties)

some people have commented before on how close the coolant hoses are to the turbo with no heat sheild but ive used it like that for years probs 30000 miles with no problem at all, the header tank is held in place with cable ties also thats just to steady it as the rubber strap on mine is ****ered!

all in all takes about an hour if you do it properly, spray the bracket up once its been cut e.t.c.

could you mount it where GTphil has but use the air box bracket and a strap? or would it just bounce out?

yeah,i had trouble bleeding the system,i now disconnect the degass hose from the tank & plug it with a thermostat, that allows me to lift the header tank a lot higher :)

Ive got mine mounted on the passenger side turret, using a cut & shut bracket off the diesel setup. Easy mod if you don't want to chop the hoses. Had no problems with heat off the turbo, had it in the same place on my gtt for thousands of miles.

ah, thats good thinking :agree:
i wanted to move my header tank for the air filter to get away from the hot turbo. and the overboost sensor fouls the tank slightly making it a pain o lift it up to bleed the system :(

I have been doing some searching in moving the header tank.

I am just a little unsure on the heater matrix hose and also can i loose the swirl pot if i move over to the o/s wing.

Thanks for any advice or photos.

Do away with the swirl pot and block off the top return to header tank. Job done

Thanks for that Chris.

I like it there as a location but like it by the drivers head light to tidy up the hoses

Ohhhh so indecisive
