just wondering if anybody has removed the side exit mid box, its anoying because my car is not silly low however the midbox on the side exit just seem to jam on any kind of speedbump and it feels like it will rip off the car if im not carefull.

Im templted to just cut it out and replace with pipe.

I havent done this myself but I would guess it would be pretty loud!:agree:

I know what you mean though, no matter the ride height it always catches, although I didnt see a speed bump one and put a nice shallow curve in the box, now it dont catch! Probably not the best idea though!!!

yea this is my only issue with the noise, I really like the side exit rawness, however the clearance issue is just so anoying.

Ive been thinking bout doing it on the van, its a bit naughty with no silencer on a road car like but i wouldnt worry too much;)

Cant imagine it been much louder to be fair, i have run mine open header a few times & its not much louder at all. Obviously its not track db limit friendly at all:laugh:

it was just too loud, i've now got the smallest bullet silencer powerflow do, its still 101dB @ 4000rpm but half the volume without a box at all

101 is good...i think mine is 105@3000rpm iirc with the standard silencer. Was a hell of a lot louder with my old cam in too:eek:

yeah that was my average police sound check, not sure how it compares to when it was measured for a track day i cant remember

mine has a VNT which acts as a silencer

my side exit has no middle box at all its 3in all the way through. and its very loud i love the noise it makes with the external wastegate and scremer pipe. :agree:

How about welding in a slimmer box in there if its catching

I've used a side exit with no box before, after while got really annoying hurting my ears. I'd say use some sort of scilencer.

mines way louder 1000 key pops later!!
:D...cant live without a sidey..no sidey means no sidey rage!

there used to be a side exit called the redline sidewinder an they ran no silencer, dont think they sound to bad, looked very similar to the scorpion sidey with nice exit pipe, much slimmer than the tiger.

I think the scorpion side exit sounds better on boost than the tiger....however as mark said and i can vouch for him that removing the silencer WILL give you a headache sooner than later ;)

Yours is used and abused, cant beat the sidey rage:D

The best sounding sidey by far is the straight through devil cup mild steel system, sounds really sweet:)

The sidewinder is a loud exhaust, very loud, i doubt it would get onto any UK track days.... saying that the devil side exit does...:)
