Hello all

Is it possible to replace these without taking the whole turbo apart ie a full rebuild or once these have gone then its just a case of chuck or pay allot of money to get rebuilt?

bumpidy bump

Is there a sure fire way of telling its not the engine smoking,it seems if I am sat at traffic the blue smoke is there as I pull off, when driving I can't see any smoke.

On the verge of buying another turbo although I love the turbo I am running at the mo it sounds nuts and pulls like a train some sort of t25 im assuming.

The only easy way to illiminate if the turbo is at fault is to remove and try another or a home made blank which is what i do.
With regard to rebuild i'm in the same boat, got four turbos which need rebuilding.

Once turbo starts going it does need rebuild, you can't just change the bearing seals. As they go the shafts wear so they need attention too, bit of machining for new size bearings and various over jobs.

Best off giving it to a turbo specialist to sort out

Why not just rebuild the one you have?

Depending on whats wrong with the turbo it may not cost that much to sort.

If your using it everyday i'd stick standard one on for meantime just to get it about then save up to have your one fixed. That way you get same one back.

Bit of a hard one to answer, its hard to say how much the side to side play has damaged the bearings. If your getting it really cheap may be worth trying.

Hope you don't mind it being little laggy if its straight off a Tomcat as they use large rear housing. Will need little work to fit it on.
