Hi,

I'm studying 'classic car restoration' here in Hungary and I have to write an essay about the Renault 5 body. I can write about all the Renault 5s, not only the super 5.
I'd like to ask your help to find information, documentations for this essay. Any link, doc is well appreciated.

Thanks mate, I've already read them. I would need something that is more body specific.

For eg. I've read somewhere that the R5 was the first 3 door car by renault.

Thanks again.
But unfortunately not too much info about the body.

... they aren't very strong :)

What kind of information?

Panel gaps?
Metal spec?
Weight?
that kind of thing...

Yes, for eg. metal spec, weight, how it was designed. What kind of protection they have used for the body (metal protection).
Unfortunately the task is not well defined. I have to choose a car (of course R5 :D) and write a 5,000 character essay about the body.
Was it he first small car that was chessisless by renault? Or even the R4 or 4CV was chessisless? I think I can also mention the R5 turbos, and the GTTs as special editions with different body.

the r5 tl/gordini started out completely differently to the newer gtt ph1/2, Engine changed from longitudinal mounting in the front to rear mounted longitudinal in the turbo1/2 to transverse mounted in the front of the gtt ph1/2

I think there is a bit more information about the renault 5 turbo, if you can speak french or get a good translation look up ISBN-10: 2726884628 or it's available from this place http://allautobooks.com/book.php?book_id=819 (http://allautobooks.com/book.php?book_id=819)

It's a great book, now out of print here's a sample page...

That seems very good. But unfortunately my french is very weak.
Anyway I think I'll order this book as it seems interesting. ;)
