I use an innovate LC1,

light throttle is showing 17-18afr
but if i press the throttle the smallest amount litterally a mm or 2 it goes off the scale rich, i had rebuilt the carb all new seals a year ago, took it apart today thinking it was a group a jobby as i had a reciept for one, but all the jets are standard size.
WOT at 16psi is around 8.5 on a 120main and standard 2nd stage and standard air corrector???? something just seems weird or have i missed something. I've ran it without the carb top on and no leaks whatsover, nice spray when throttle is applied. massively lean on idle too.

does'nt sound like ur inovate is calibrated right as i dont think it will actually run right at that afr...just too lean ,as well as that if u press the acc. it should only go to about 11;1 with the pump and then lean off again to 12.5 or 13.7;1.
when your at a vac of less than 12-15 in it will richen with the first stage enricher!!

Re-calibrate the sensor and report back.:agree:

yeah i was going to re-calibrate it, cant understand why it would go off both ends of the scale lol.

They do require calibrating every so often. I use an LC1 for every day and check now and again with the LM1, as that usually requires calibrating every use. My Lc1 reads 2-3 points richer after 3 months or so.

yeah i read u have to calibrate it quite often at first then less often after like 6 months, i could understand it loosing calibration, or calibrated badly in the first place but surely this would mean it would be out of spec in one way? not both ways? mine literally flashes off the scale rich and off the scale lean ? ....... ill report back after callibrating.

The thing that confuses me mostly is off boost just normal driving its lean then literally move the throttle the tiniest tiniest amount allmost not move it and it'll go off the scale rich all of a sudden, and i can feel a change in engine speed with the change in fueling. very slight but noticeable.

What size is the venturi in your carb mate?

Could also be a duff probe. The car won't run at 18:1, or 8.5:1 so those results are null and void.
