help fiesta xr2i?

mates got a fiesta xr2i 1.6 said he was out giving it some the other day and acidentally went from 3rd into 2nd whilst the car was revving high

went from revving its bo**ox as it would, he then pulled over stoped.. then as he carried on driving it just went boggish like hardly any power got back home tried the car in the morning and wont start.. sounds like its miss firing? or could it be bent valves? from the high revving? causing loss in compression? waiting to get my compression tester off my mate to check it for him.. until then just thought id ask you guys :) if anyone as any ideass???

Best to assume the worst and think about it clashing the valves.....Take the timing/cambelt cover off and check the belt and its timing marks first before doing a comp test.
